CariVu in Austin, TX
CariVu is cutting-edge dental technology and it’s available now at Kidz Dental Austin. We have recently begun using CariVu – along with traditional x-rays– to diagnose and help treat cavities.
It’s 99% accurate and allows the dentist to see exactly where and how big a cavity is inside the tooth.
Cavities can vary in size. Sometimes the decay has only just begun and other times it’s large enough that it needs to be filled right away. Getting an accurate view of what’s inside the tooth helps us make the decision for what treatment is best for your child.
How does CariVu work?
CariVu uses completely safe, near-infrared light to illuminate the tooth. The enamel becomes see-through and the dentist can clearly see where the decay is located.
It doesn’t use any radiation at all and–best of all– it’s completely painless. The dentist uses a pen-like device that wraps around the tooth to get the images.
